This is my best friend here, she makes living here not awful. She forces me to get out, she drops by with snacks and her children to help me out of a funk. So when some other friends wanted to plan a surprise party I was all in.
The three of us had to sneak around, lie to her face and distract her. It was all worth it, she was so surprised, confused as well. She walked through the door thinking we were going to have a girls night. They said SURPRISE and she was like WHAT? After a few seconds she got it, her sister was there, she teared up. I was so happy we surprised her. Happier with the turn out.
She kept stating she couldn't believe we pulled it off because of how much we talk everyday. We work out together, we texted, we get coffee, we shop...And let me tell you, it was hard..very hard. Luckily we had her husband in on it and he deflected and distracted as well. The party had all her closest friends and their kids, it couldn't have been a more fun night.
There was laughter all around. Kids running wild, eating jelly bellies and potato chips, it was heaven for them. There were babies and dancing. It was a night that was near perfect. Near perfect, I tell you. Oh hell, it was perfect. The cops even showed up, you know it's a good party when the cops show up.
So if you have a good friend, think about throwing them a surprise party, it's so worth it. Happy Birthday Mel! We love you!!
