Our Fourth of July

july 1

It was different... Different because two of the kids are out of town. Two kids that aren't usually gone at the same time. It's really throwing me off. I didn't think it would be so weird but man, it's freaking weird.

It started off with a lazy morning followed by an easy lunch of sandwiches and fruit and the purchasing of fireworks. We decided to stay home, we watched a movie, sat in the yard, blew up some star war characters, legos, hot wheels with fireworks, ate fried chicken for dinner and of course sparklers.

No 4th is complete without sparklers. Green ones, orange ones, red ones. Who knew they came in different colors? Not this mom, I just thought the boxes were different colors.

What I didn't expect is how many other fireworks would be shot off on our street. So many big fireworks, loud, crazy, colorful fireworks in every direction you looked. It was really awesome. We had some big ones but not as big as our neighbors, who lit them off well passed midnight. No complaints, even though our dog was a big ball of anxious. It's the 4th of July and it happens once a year. The dog survived and the fireworks only woke me a couple times, around 1am.

We shot off some really cool fireworks but if you have kids you MUST by the Parachutes and you should avoid the Saturn Missiles. Other fun fireworks for kids were the Dancing Animals, T really wanted more of them.
Luckily making sparkler bugs distracted him from the begging to go buy more dancing animals.
His Sparkler Bug,

I hope everyone had a fun and safe holiday.
