It was his day...

What could he be so excited about? It was his day, his right of passage had arrived. He is turning nine in three days, nine is the magical age. The age you're allowed to go shooting with dad.

The day you get to shoot your dad's gun, his 22. The same gun he shot at the age of nine.

What a day for him, a day I hope he keeps in his memory forever. No it wasn't a fluffy day full of homemade cupcakes, pinatas and party games but it was a kick ass day. It was a day learning to shoot a gun. Some, maybe most, would disagree with us teaching our kids to shoot. We are doing what we feel every kid should know, how to shoot a gun and what to do if they are in a house with guns.

On this day my youngest shot a gun for the first time, on this day my youngest learned more about gun safety than most adults know.
I am proud to say this boy, at three days from being nine, can load a gun, shoot a gun, know if the safety is on, and know what to do if he's in a situation with a gun.

He is also the only left handed shooter in the family.

I disagree with this. I think it's irresponsible to put a gun of any kind in any situation in a child's hands.
